I grew up in Lafayette, La. Homegrown from the boot of the Mississippi River. The sediment is rich here, the narrative even richer. Father of two, eldest of five and there is no point in my life that is without narrative and story. I am a surrealist and then a writer. I am a community activist and founder of an organization that has tasked itself with the responsibility of empowering and emboldening communities.
I am a widely published poet and run an indie online poetry journal, that has given voice to poets from all over the world. From civil war-torn neighborhoods of the Burma-Myanmar conflict to the frozen streets of the Canadian border.
My work relies heavily on imagery and the senses. Imagery and raw substance, anchor-grounds the listener to familiar space...the world around us. The complexities of the every day, fascinate me. With that said, the uncertainty of the wind and the stability of mountains to the moon, provide me with the landscape of dreams. Here, I know an artistic discovery awaits me on the other side.
My work relies heavily on the tactile furnishings, one may find at the top of a dusty old attic, where the light-shine cascades across the sun’s tongue as it stretches for a place to disappear. Thought-provoking and smile-heavy. The neighborhood feline cleans his whiskers under the magnolia's sleep.
An imaginative and innovative craftsman of the written word. I have a critical eye you can trust, and a compassionate ear for doing the heavy lifting. I possess technical skills in a variety of literary environments.
