Cayla is a mixed media artist working in her two bedroom apartment in Shreveport, Louisiana. Since 2009, she has experimented with different mediums and compositions. Currently Cayla’s practice continues focused on embroidery and painting in response to her emotional and social relationship with herself. Her work often draws inspiration from emotional experiences and the beauty of the earth. Using thread and acrylics to create textures and semi-realism to create ever-changing life. Her work bounces between the vibrancy and enthusiasm of life and the despair that comes with it. Strong lines and realistic images in the fragile threads, with the calming colors from loose layers and structures, creates a meditative story. She is constantly pushing her ideas forward and finding life in themes, which is used to create new elements within each one, in hopes to better understand herself and the world.
