Alyssa Guidry

Hello! My name is Alyssa. I’ve always had a passion for the arts but my real journey didn’t begin until about seven years ago. I began my art career as a graphic design major at the University of Louisiana at Monroe in 2012. Shortly after realizing I was spending twice as much time in the ceramics studio as I was in the computer lab, I decided to devote myself to my passion. I became obsessed with clay and fire. I ravenously devoured all the information I could about ceramics and various ceramic processes. By 2015, with lots of support from my fellow artists and members of the community, I worked to buy, scavenge, and build pottery equipment so that I could continue working by the time I graduated with my Bachelors of Fine Arts in Ceramics. Now, I run my own at-home pottery studio, Wild Phlox Pottery, where I produce my pieces. I’m also a Resident Studio Artist of the Masur Museum of Art where I teach pottery workshops and host demonstrations. I hope to one day pursue my MFA in Ceramics so I can share my passion for clay and inspire others to stay wild, get dirty, & change the world!
