The black community in America has always been known for its long-standing traditions of creativity, tenacity, and leadership. I have constantly been curious and intrigued by the daily lives of those who reside in the place I call home, Natchitoches, Louisiana. I strive to showcase historically marginalized groups in an uplifting and inspirational manner while simultaneously highlighting their struggles and accomplishments. My goal as an artist has been to use the visual arts as a form of expression and communication. I want to exhibit the resilience and power of the people in my community in hopes to overcome preconceptions and encourage a sense of pride and identity.
