Living free range on forty wooded acres in an earth sheltered home has endeared me to mother nature. My art has taken many turns as I explore all the various mediums all the while trying to reuse and reclaim items we would normally toss out. As a visual artist, I paint what I love. As a hyper realism artist, I found as I aged, I struggled with my paintings and eventually lost my joy. Overcome with the urge to create something, I took to poured paints. Pouring paint out of cup excited me and brought me back to life. The lockdown during the pandemic led me to experiment with my old jewelry. No access to supplies gave me a chance to play freely again. I now combine my new found love of painting on top of poured paint backgrounds. Harvesting supplies off of our forty acres and reclaiming beads and charms from vintage jewelry, I also began to create mobiles. My life in the piney woods of Claiborne Parish where I lived with my husband of forty three years and our two dogs, we have found ourselves on another journey. After my husband was diagnosed with Stage Four cancer, our son, Ben, now lives on our property while we took up residence in Minden. I continue to paint, string beads like an old Hippie and we take each day as a gift.
