Larry Sanchez
I'm an indegionious two spirit multidisciplinary artist. My life much like my work is an ever evolving, enigmatic view of where humanity meets Surrealism. Most of my life all I had was my imagination and my drive to create. I grew up in the small town of Zwolle Louisiana where I learned about my native heritage from my elders. Consequently, these teachings materialize In my works in the form of tribal works of art. Also, I draw from other influences in my life that were not so pleasant. The combination all these influences both good and bad, I transform into art focused on my healing journey as well connecting with others. Above all, my children are my greatest treasure and my life.
Artist Statement: By studying other art and artists as well as building a sharing of knowledge,ideas and techniques i feel we grow as a community of artisans. keeping our creative fire alive and building a community of artists who thrive by working together to bring light and life as well as enlightenment to the world.This is what i live for. Bringing this same concept to the children i teach art to is key in their development. To never be afraid to try. Through failure we learn from our mistakes and it makes us humble as well as strengthens our drive to never give up and when all else fails we have a community of those we can turn to for advice and encouragement. I strive to be a advocate for my fellow artist, established or not, to be a beacon of light to help them find their way to their dream. I feel the more artists we have the brighter the world gets.
