My life has been guided by a persistent sense of wonder—a need to explore, observe, and shape the world around me through making. Art is where that curiosity finds form. It is how my ideas can escape my mind. Whether I’m welding scrap metal, layering resin, painting, or writing fiction and poetry, I’m driven by the same impulse: to turn fleeting thoughts and overlooked materials into something that speaks.
The unpredictability of artistic endeavors is what makes them so fascinating. My books seem to come from somewhere deep inside, stories that spring full-formed into my head. Meanwhile, my welding sculptures are more an innovative process—I see something in nature, in the trash, on the side of the road, and I want to unlock its potential. Painting, poems, resin work, all of it has its place in my life, and each is unique and appreciated.
Art-making, for me, is equal parts creativity and fun. I love getting lost in the process, trying new techniques, and collaborating with my wife, Fahmida. Together, we embrace the mess of creation and the joy of discovery. Our work is about honoring the small, the strange, and the beautiful in everyday life.
