Scott Stobbe
Originally hailing from Capitola, California, guitarist and composer Scott Stobbe is now based out of New Orleans, LA. He has toured nationally and internationally with diverse musical projects playing traditional New Orleans swing, Brazilian Choro, American and European folk music, and free improvisation, among other genres. His projects and compositions have been heard at the Monterey Jazz Festival, the Portland Jazz Festival, Symbiosis, Lightning in a Bottle, Woven Festival in Tokyo, and Salinas Valley State Prison where he taught music for 3 years.
His passion for musical exploration has led him through many genres of music and literally around the world. His travels have greatly influenced his playing as well as his approach to performance and composition. Another great influence on his musical career has been working at the Kuumbwa Jazz Center in Santa Cruz, California for 20 years. He was profoundly impacted by all of the phenomenal artists that performed there night after night.
Scott Stobbe has an A.A. degree in music composition from Foothill College in Los Altos California, a B.M. in music composition from Portland State University and a Master’s in Music from Stephen F. Austin University. He also studied Jazz performance at the Escuela Municipal de Música de A Coruña in La Coruña, Spain between 1999-2001. Scott Stobbe has worked with many different artists and has been influenced by a wide range of music styles, all of which have contributed to the development of his own unique sound. Scott believes that music is a powerful force that can uplift, heal, educate, and bring people together.
