Roy Malone

It has been said that when it comes to creating and fixing things, Roy is truly a "Jack of All Trades." However, unlike the negative connotation of the subsequent "master of none" portion of that once popular phrase, he truly lives up to Shakespeare’s intended compliment of "oftentimes better than a master of one.” In short, Roy is a multi-talented individual who manifests his insightful artistic perspectives through his paintings, photographs, creations, and writing. Roy's development as an artist began at an early age. A native of Los Angeles, California, it was during his K-12 education from the Los Angeles Unified School District, when he'd been identified and selected as an "Academically Enriched" student. There, dedicated counselors and teachers 'saw' something unique and sought to inspire his talents. His parents agreed to support the school's efforts, and allowed him to be 'bussed' once a week to the Barnesdale Art Park in Hollywood, California for an entire semester. Though short, this period was his only 'formal' training in art. However, it was time of great inspiration for Roy - when he discovered and explored the different techniques and mediums of creative expression. Fast-forwarding through his life's adventures of "growing up," he recalls many inspiring moments and individuals who became contributing factors that helped to shape the artist - and the man. Professionally, Roy served the public at the city, county, and state levels of government service for 32 years. As well, he served as a Military Police Officer with the United States Marine Corps Reserve. Yet, during what he considers to be the 'busy' period of his adult life, Roy didn't spend much time creating art. Instead, he explored the wonders of nature during his travels through photography. Drawn to trying to capture with a camera, the ever-changing beauty of God's creation. Most days now, when he and his wife are not out knocking out their "bucket list," or spending time with their family, he paints, he builds, and continues to investigate various forms of artistic expressions. He's stated that he has yet to create a perfect rendering, painting, or thing. Still, Roy hopes - through his ongoing attempts at producing that "perfect piece" - to inspire and invoke others to create their own viewable expressions of God's artwork.
