Pamela Saxton

Pam Saxton is a Shreveport-based artist and educator with roots in the scenic state of Michigan. Her journey with art began in high school and flourished through college, eventually leading her back to school as an adult to complete her bachelor’s degree in education. Pam now shares her God-given talent and love for art with middle and high school students at Word of God Academy, where she guides them through various artistic mediums and styles, helping them discover and refine their own creative gifts. While she explores a variety of mediums, she gravitates toward acrylics and watercolors with a focus on realism. Her work is a celebration of God’s creation and the natural world, with a special passion for equine art. Drawing inspiration from the detailed work of artists like Fred Stone and Christine Picavet, she has painted numerous commissioned pieces of equine athletes, capturing the grace and strength of these majestic animals. Her contributions to the art community have been featured in several exhibitions, including the 2015 ArtPort in Shreveport and various shows. Beyond her artistic endeavors, she finds immense joy in her family, embracing her role as a mother and grandmother. Her art and teaching reflect her dedication to sharing beauty, faith, and inspiration with others.

Artist Statement: Through the lens of realism, I strive to honor the beauty and majesty of God’s creation. Whether capturing the quiet strength of a horse, the gentle movements of a quiet pond, or the colorful details of a blooming flower, I want my work to be a reflection of reverence—for nature, for life, and for the divine artistry that surrounds us. Horses hold a special place in my heart and practice. Their grace, spirit, and silent wisdom inspire many of my pieces, serving as symbols of both power and peace. I strive to capture not just their form, but their soul. Though grounded in the real, my work often welcomes a touch of the fantastical adding elements that invite viewers to imagine the unseen. These subtle threads of fantasy are not departures from truth, but extensions of wonder. With each piece, I hope to offer a moment of pause—a reminder that we are surrounded by beauty, designed with purpose, and part of a creation far greater than ourselves.
