Artist Statement
I was born and raised in Shreveport, Louisiana. Throughout my years in public education, I was published in “Seedlings,” a literary journal for students, and acted in the drama club, particularly Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella as “The Stepmother.” Furthermore, as a requirement for my 11th grade English course, I wrote, co-directed, and acted in a short film. I graduated from C. E. Byrd Math/Science Magnet High School within the top 50% of the class of 2007. After matriculating at several colleges around Louisiana, I graduated from Southern University at New Orleans in 2014, where I majored in English and minored in Sociology. My time spent there was when I blossomed as a social butterfly, becoming involved in many extracurricular activities, but spending little time reading outside of school or writing creatively. Upon graduation, I matriculated at Loyola College of Law, where I spent one year.
My goal in my acting career is to one day star in MGM style classic films, to act in, write, and direct major motion pictures, and to write novels that are enjoyed globally. It has always been my desire to star in my own variety show like Nat King Cole. Under the pseudonym of Nneoma Prudence LaMarche, which has been internationally trademarked for fiction books, I have self-published three books, two of which are slated for book-to-film projects. The first completed work is a play good for film or stage, entitled "Nicholas, the Patron Saint." The second published book is a printout of my blog, "Native Americans: Black and White," and the third is titled "The Chronicles at Super Saver Market," which is a collection of short stories composed as a novel. Finding more time to write creatively, I am writing more short stories and poetry under both my pseudonym and/or birth name. As a very spiritual woman, I enjoy the useful outlet of folk writing. My writing examines relationships, society, and the psychological aspect of human life. Though I am not officially a painter, I find solace through painting, quilting, and by creating other works of art that express my individuality and allow me to convey my innermost thoughts or desires.
Since I moved back to Shreveport in 2016, I have emerged publicly as an actress, becoming involved with local stage play ensembles. This leads to my singing artistry which was first developed in my high school choir. Throughout high school, I wrote poetry and sang under the name of “Lady Red,” which was later changed to Lady Scarlett. After high school graduation, I began singing in the studio, recording my first mixtape which was released in 2008 and titled “The Christmas CD.” I recorded this under the name Lady Sunshine, which I chose to appeal to a more positive outlook on my life in service of God in the Christian faith, having been baptized in the faith in 1997. I also sang in my local church choir and college choir “The Voices Of SUNO.” In 2011, I recorded an EP styled mixtape called “Lady Sunshine vs. Lady Scarlett.” It features 6 tracks with instrumentals produced by Kanye West, and from the songs “Make A Baby” by 50 Cent, and “Put On” By Young Jeezy, and other lesser known producers. This and other work can be found on Soundcloud released under the name change of QM Sunshine, to include 2018’s “Voice Memos: Finding Myself Freestyle Mixtape,” and 2016’s EP styled mixtape “Reign Through The Rain,” featuring the original instrumental from Soulja Boy’s “Pretty Boy Swag,” and a revamp of the song “Lucifer” produced by Kanye West, which was released originally by Lady Sunshine on “Lady Sunshine vs. Lady Scarlett.” “QM” Sunshine is an acronym or an abbreviation for Queen Mother Sunshine: Extraordinarily Ordinary. An intention has been made to sign with a major label, particularly Interscope Records.
