Teri Walker

I began making jewelry about 22 years ago. I was going to a make-it-yourself store so often that they put me to work. I learned how to bead and how to chain. I was certified in Precious Metal Clay, taught classes, and life went on. I continued to make jewelry and had pieces in two different ladies boutiques. I enjoyed it but it didn't set me on fire. My grandmother has always been "my person" and after she passed I felt lost. My husband bought me a pottery class to help me come back to the surface. There was my fire! I do feel like she is driving me and helping me be successful in my endeavors. I create clay works now to honor her and all my ancestors that came before me.

Artist Statement: I believe that art is the best therapy! Art is capable of reaching within us, into our souls and can provide healing. The first time I held a lump of clay it soothed my mind as well as my nerves. Having PTSD, the clay is my best medicine for a bad moment. I would like to share Art and my Art work with others in hopes of helping them find a little bit of healing as well.
