Leslie Redwine

Southeast Louisiana based, Leslie Redwine is a contemporary visual artist. After study at Loyola University in New Orleans, with broad education in multiple genres, Leslie settled on acrylic abstract and representational painting as her medium of choice, with a healthy body of work in watercolors, sculpture, and papier mache. Gardening and exploring nature are major influences, and reflect in her artwork. Seasonal changes in color and moods inform cyclical output and her work provides the viewer a sense of her connection with nature. Leslie’s early life was spent living and absorbing the cultures of such varied locations as Puerto Rico, Toronto, and the San Francisco Bay Area. Her parents provided her with exposure to many cultures and art forms, instilling in her a lifelong desire to create and appreciate art and music. Redwine studied mathematics in California and Louisiana, and taught at Louisiana State University, State University of West Georgia, and Prince George’s (Maryland) College, where she ultimately served as chair of the mathematics department. She finished her professional career as Head of School at a small private school in Annapolis, Maryland. After retirement from teaching and administration, Leslie returned to her true passion—creating art. She lives on the Northshore of Lake Pontchartrain with her musician husband, a flock of chickens, and her extensive gardens.
