Leigha T. Porter is an accomplished dancer, choreographer, arts educator, and cultural advocate with a deep commitment to preserving and sharing artistic traditions. She is the Founder and Artistic Director of FE Conservatory, a premier training center for young dancers ages 3-18, where she provides instruction in classical and contemporary dance forms. At FE Conservatory, she mentors students, produces performances, and curates a culturally rich learning environment.
In addition to her work with FE Conservatory, Leigha founded Parc Village, a community arts center dedicated to providing resources for artists of all disciplines. The center houses an art gallery, podcast studio, conference space, music lab, and two dance studios. Through Parc Village, she has curated programs that celebrate poetry, dance, yoga, and community storytelling.
Leigha is also the co-creator and director of The Creole Nutcracker, a reimagined holiday production that infuses Louisiana’s Creole heritage into the classic ballet. This production has grown in scale each year, featuring over 100 cast members and drawing larger audiences annually. Her ability to weave culture, history, and movement into her productions has made her a sought-after choreographer, with works presented in Louisiana, North Carolina, Toronto, Tennessee, Texas, Florida, and London.
As the Executive Director of Heritage Parc, a nonprofit organization, Leigha oversees cultural programs, mentorship initiatives, and scholarships for young artists. Through Heritage Parc, she ensures that arts education and cultural preservation remain accessible to the community.
Leigha’s career also includes a 12-year tenure as a public and private school educator, working with students ranging from pre-K to high school. She developed a unique early childhood dance curriculum, co-authored a children's book and collaborated with organizations such as Acadiana Center for the Arts to integrate dance with academic subjects like science and social studies.
Her expertise in choreography extends to both stage and commercial work, having choreographed for R&B artist Nebu Neazy, judged for the NAACP ACT-SO competition, and been featured on BET’s 106 & Park and Stand & Deliver. She holds a Master’s in Education from Grand Canyon University and a Bachelor’s from the University of Louisiana, with specialized training in Horton and Dunham techniques.
Leigha’s contributions to the arts have earned her numerous accolades, including the South Arts Emerging Leaders of Color Cohort (2022), Spoken Red Hall of Fame Inductee, Acadiana’s Top 20 Under 40, and features in Kreol International Magazine, Blackwell Street Times, and Acadiana Lifestyle. She continues to expand her impact through mentorship, performance, and community engagement, serving as a true ambassador for the arts and culture.
