Kristina Larson

Kristina Larson creates biomorphic three-dimensional works primarily out of clay. Within her multidisciplinary practice she seeks to blur the lines between art, craft, and design by creating contemporary sculpture and avant-garde designs out of traditional materials. She often juxtaposes her material by incorporating vibrant LED lights, inspired by neon art and the electric pop colors of the 1980s. While sculpting, she explores the limits of her material by hand building, wheel-throwing and assembling. She relies on gravity, chance, and accidental happenings to embrace the natural movement, which is present in her organic forms. Larson is a New Orleans based artist. She holds a Master of Art in Arts Administration from the Savannah College of Art and Design and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University. She has exhibited nationally and internationally in solo and group exhibitions including Design Miami, FL; Museum of Arts and Sciences, GA; Ogden Museum of Southern Art, LA; Capitol Park Museum, LA; Shaw Center for the Arts, LA; Martin Lawrence Galleries, LA; Jonathan Ferrara Gallery, LA; Octavia Art Gallery, LA; Clock Gallery, Morocco among others. She has received grants from the Massachusetts Cultural Council (2002), from the Louisiana Division of the Arts (2015 and 2019) and scholarships from Anderson Ranch, CO (2020 and 2021). Larson’s work is in the collections of the Museum of Arts and Sciences, GA; Savannah College of Art and Design, GA; Besh Restaurant Group, LA and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, NY.
