Kris Schmolze was born in Philadelphia, has lived all over the United States for a couple of decades and now lives in New Orleans. He grew up singing in a folk music community learning acoustic guitar. Since then he has expanded into playing bass, drums, electric guitar and synthesizer. Performing afro-beat, alt-rock, ambient, circuit-bent, experimental sound, improvisational jazz, marching band and noise music.
Kris is a practicing painter and print-maker. His recent solo exhibition of paintings made during the pandemic were shown in at Leedy-Volkous Art Center in Kansas City and were installed under UV light during Super Nova at the Lafitte Greenway in New Orleans in 2020. Since moving to NOLA he has become a member of the Community Print Shop and Darkroom in 2021.
