ARTIST STATEMENT As a multidisciplinary artist, I am a visual artist, photographer and musician. For me, one thing flows into another. Everything is connected. My photographs depict vignettes of our wonderful bayou state, often capturing hard architectural lines or soft organic forms. My photos often materialize in my visual art. My latest passion is alcohol ink as a medium. I create expressive landscapes, organic blooms, forms and lines that speak to me. As a musician, I FEEL the music! Using percussive instruments allows me to respond to it in a way that moves my soul. Music helps me to express feelings. Song titles or lyrics that have touched me, often show up as titles in my visual art. As Uncle Cracker sings, “Give me the beat boys, that frees my soul…….” This has been the mantra for all of my creative endeavors.
