The driving force behind my art is my love for materials and processes, with a generous push from concepts. I am happiest when working in “mad scientist” mode. I have used wood, tire tread, resin, steel, paint, fabric, thread, photos and text. I have cut, hammered, welded and sewn my sculptures. I love the juxtaposition of welded steel with textiles. I have taken inspiration from cracks in the sidewalk and satellite maps. Currently I am working purely intuitively, without using those kinds of images. I gleefully paint wood, chop it up, and screw it back together, using only a piece of found metal as inspiration. My goal for 2023 is to incorporate more narrative into my work and express ideas that are important to me.
