Julie Burton is a Shreveport native. She studied visual arts at BYU- Idaho and earned a BA in Art from LSUS. She spends her days working as a teacher for the Bossier Parish Talented Arts program. She devotes her evenings to her family, and her very late nights to her artwork. She enjoys working with charcoal and soft pastels, but is most known for her gouache and ink paintings. Her work is heavily influenced by nature. She has an ever growing collection of found objects including (but not limited to) rocks and minerals, fossils, and shells in her home. She cherishes all the acorns, feathers, and empty wasp nests her children bring in the house, and often uses them for inspiration in her work. She not only hopes to nurture a love for nature in her children, but also to remind us all of the beauty in the world around us.
