Hailing from Lafayette, Louisiana, J-S.A.N.D. is an artist known for his thought-provoking lyricism, hard-hitting production, and witty wordplay. J-S.A.N.D. is also a producer, graphic designer, director/editor, & law school graduate.
The name “J-S.A.N.D.” is an acronym which stands for “Jaleel Supplies All Needs & Demands” which is a nod to his versatility as a creative visual artist, producer, and songwriter, and his ability to authentically speak to the varied life experiences and feelings of his listeners.
J-S.A.N.D. started producing at age 7 and rapping at age 9. From 2012 – 2022, while he was in middle school and and through college, he released a number of majority self-produced singles, mixtapes, and music videos that garnered a great deal of attention across various social media outlets. During that time, J-S.A.N.D. opened for artists such as Kash Doll, Rico Nasty, Partners N Crime, Saba, & Young Nudy, and did graphic artwork for a number of other artists. His relentless self-promotion caught the eyes of many notable Hip-Hop figures such as ScHoolboy Q & Missy Elliott.
In 2021, he was discovered by Q-Tip of A Tribe Called Quest, which later led to him featuring on and and co-producing “The Vow” on LL Cool J’s 2024 LP, “The FORCE,” executive produced by Q-Tip.
Prior to being featured on LL Cool J’s album, J-S.A.N.D. was selected by the Acadiana Center for The Arts as a performing artist in its NXT Series, presented by Rader Solutions, in which J-S.A.N.D. performed an engaging and thought-provoking show titled, “The World, According To J-S.A.N.D.,” which was a musical TEDtalk of sorts, in which J-S.A.N.D. (along with a few guests) touched on everyday-life topics (relationships, grief, joy, disappointment, pride, etc.) through song. Each musical selection corresponded with one of said topics and at various points in the show, J-S.A.N.D. welcomed and solicited audience commentary and participation in order for the show to become a truly shared experience.
