Joan Nerrettig

I bought a guitar for $20 from a pawn shop when I was 18, while in rehab. The counselor taught me, "House of the Rising Sun", and after that I wrote my own songs. Living both in New York and Southern California furthered my content via experiences, and my validity and emotions have found their way to my guitar. I'm lucky! In early 2017, a group of musicians became The Joanitones, and we've been at it ever since. The musicians I play with are Steve Benton and Kenneth Brackeen. Their original contributions to my compositions makes for melodic, exciting, and moving performances. Improving my relationship with my Higher Power has given me the inspiration to write songs related to that relationship, and I recently wrote my first 'gospel song', based on Psalms 40.
