I have been sketching and painting all my life. During my growing up years, my family lived across the continental U.S. and abroad, and I diligently pursued my art on a self-taught basis. A new world of visual possibility opened for me as I began my first year at university. I studied fine art and design—earning a BA in Advertising Design and pursuing additional masters level studies in painting, design and photography. I successfully made my way as an illustrator/designer in my business career. Less than a decade ago, I chose to pursue my passion for fine art full time.
Artist Statement: My charge is to bring spontaneous glory to a painting surface—using just a handful of brushes and a palette of vibrant colors. Yes, I'm all about "looseness", freedom, and allowing the brushes and medium to take me to unexpected places. However, I also plan, design, draw and consider well before any color or brush touch the painting surface. Lending to my design background, my subject choices are influenced by strong graphic components—derived largely from the natural world.
I sense that what I'm doing is part of a greater whole that goes beyond imagination. With each new creation, I strive to "break new ground" and partner with the individual viewer to touch a place of intimate meaning.
