Jude Theriot

I'm a neurologist and writer from Catahoula, Louisiana, a small fishing and farming community at the western edge of the Atchafalaya Basin. For the last three years I've served as Nature and Culture Correspondent for St. Martin Parish Tourism, spotlighting the area's unique food, music and ecology. I'm also a frequent contributor to Teche News. Current community projects include the Live from Duchamp Opera House concert series in St. Martinville, which I started in 2024, and the Picture Catahoula film photograph digital archive, which I started in 2012. I have been practicing neurology for twenty years, and during that time I have always devoted half of my work-week to clinical medicine and half to creative pursuits. For ten years I was the medical director of a brain injury rehabilitation center, and I continue to work as a forensic neurologist, providing expert testimony in matters of litigation related to brain injury. I'm currently the general outpatient neurologist for a community-based health organization devoted to bringing quality health care to underserved areas of the country.
