Blessed with an ear for music, a love of history, and a heart for God, James Linden Hogg is an American musician, writer, and storyteller. Inspired by his European heritage, he has recorded four albums in the Celtic and folk genres. The CDs’ proceeds have gone toward paying for his college tuition. He graduated Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Arts in History (summa cum laude). Hogg’s instruments include violin, or fiddle, banjo, guitar, piano, bagpipes, mandolin, fife, pennywhistle, and accordion. Indeed, Hogg intends, through his music and writing, to offer people a new way of seeing the world, which is not actually new, but an ancient way forged in tradition and custom. Hogg has been honored to perform with numerous grammy-award winning artists such as Ricky Skaggs, Mark O’Connor, Rhonda Vincent, Billy Dean, Marty Raybon, Larry Stewart, and others. He has opened for the late George Jones and a former President. He has collaborated and recorded with other musicians as well. Hogg has played music at venues like the Shaw Center for the Arts, Acadiana Center for the Arts, and the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. He also performs at many private gatherings, civic engagements, and churches. He even plays bagpipes at weddings and funeral services. Although only a young man, Hogg has been awarded several academic and musical awards, including the 2012 National History Day Championship (national finalist), the 2015 Northwestern State University Fiddle Championship, and an honorary day, on July 2, 2017, from Ascension Parish, Louisiana. Hogg posts videos fairly regularly on Youtube, his upcoming musical dates on Facebook, and photographs on Instagram.
