I am an interdisciplinary artist and culture bearer working in textiles, performance, installation and various art forms. I am born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. I am co-located in New Orleans and Shreveport. I have lived in and spend a lot of time working on the Afrikan continent, including Tanzania and Nigeria where I connect with other artists and culture bearers, building and maintaining relationships throughout the Afrikan diaspora. As a trained and ordained Traditional West Afrikan Ifa Chief Priest, everything I do is Ancestrally led. My art work is an extension of my spiritual work. I express myself and my identity through my Ancestors who guided me back to Our spirituality, a spirituality that was intentionally vilified and hidden from me. I come from a family of debutantes who hail from the Original Illinois Club, the oldest African American club to host both a Ball and Debutante Cotillion. I work to help preserve the culture of New Orleans and to promote our culture globally. As a result, I recently answered the call to help carry on the Mardi Gras Indian masking tradition as Big Queen of the Beautiful Creole Apache Indian Tribe.
