Math education has been my career for 25 years. Interest in creating art, began just over 3 years ago when introduced to glass blowing for the first time. I was immediately hooked and currently produce pieces and assist in the glass studio at High Gravity Glassworks in Shreveport. As a mathematician, my interest in art naturally tends to subscribe to the “form follows function” train of thought. Concepts of geometry and physics clearly play out in the movement and shaping of the glass. Angles, forces, parallel and perpendicular are brought to life in glass! On the contrary, I have found the serendipitous aspects of glass freeing. Experimental technique and creative applications of glass are of special interest to me as well. The motion of glass as it is pulled, blown, and molded is particularly powerful as I continue to develop my own artistic style.
