David P. Morrow

David P. Morrow (b. 1968, Arnaudville, Louisiana) is an interdisciplinary artist whose work explores the intersection of memory, identity, and digital technology. With a BA in Art History from Boston University and an MFA in Computer Art from the School of Visual Arts in New York City, Morrow blends generative AI with the ancient medium of encaustic painting to create layered, emotionally resonant works. Rooted in Louisiana and shaped by formative years in New York’s experimental art and club scenes, his practice moves between organic and artificial, analog and algorithmic. He begins by generating complex visual compositions using AI prompts drawn from personal experience and cultural memory, then transforms them through a meditative process of layering molten wax, pigment, and texture. Morrow’s work is a tactile response to the tension between what we can program and what we feel—reflecting themes of resilience, queer identity, and the evolving relationship between technology and nature.
