Chad Huval, a native of Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, comes from a family of musicians and has been playing music his entire life. Chad has studied with some of the preeminent Cajun and Creole musicians of Southwest Louisiana, including Zachary Richard, Moise Robin, Errol Verret, Horace Trahan, Paul Daigle, Joseph “Zydeco Joe” Mouton, and Mitch Reed. Along the way Chad has performed across this country and beyond, from small dives to grand theaters with BeauSoleil avec Michael Doucet, Terry Huval and Jambalaya, Al Berard and the Basin Brothers, Jesse Legé, Robert Jardell and Pure Cajun, Reggie Matte, Gina Forsyth, Freres, and the Boogaloo Swamis, among others. Chad plays a variety of instruments with a variety of bands and is the accordionist and bassist for BeauSoleil avec Michael Doucet, guitarist for the Jambalaya Cajun Band, bassist for the Huval Family Band and bassist/guitarist for the Acadien Cajun Band. Chad also teaches at University of Louisiana Lafayette’s Traditional Music Program and at the Brazos Huval School of Music. Chad is sought out to speak on Louisiana’s Cajun and Creole culture, teach at folk camps, lead musical jams, and judge fiddle and accordion contests. Chad has apprenticed making accordions with Larry G. Miller and makes wonderful sourdough loaves.
