I'm Candace Chaney, a photographer with a curious eye and a hope obsessed heart based in Shreveport, Louisiana. I've been photographing families and businesses since around 2012 in and around Northwest Louisiana. With a background in the sciences, I'm drawn toward the natural beauty of all things big and small in our tiny corner of the universe. From grand landscapes to the quotidian quiet of an ordinary day, I'm fascinated by it all and motivated by gratitude to frame as many moments as I can.
Artist Statement: I'm inspired by Wendell Berry's prose and poetry, Aretha Franklin's voice, Ansel Adam's compositions, the Psalter's earnest prayers, Emily Dickinson's deep well of work, Annie Dillard's existential musings, Eugene Peterson's wisdom, my husband's quick wit, and the way the sun feels on my shoulders. Deep down in my bones, I feel an absolute compulsion to capture stories and preserve moments, crafting meaning and metaphor out of the messiness of life.
