Art is a window into our context. I am a self-taught, queer artist born and raised in central Louisiana. My art is an escape and a celebration from my disabilities. Each finished painting is a pentimento, a layered reminder of the continual unraveling of form and color, limited only by space and time. I believe that human existence is a perpetual process of becoming: always in flux, always unfinished, and always dynamic. Art is never finished, merely finished, for now. I explore ecocritical thought in each piece: the dialogic navigation of self and space shaped by my marginalized experiences in a small, southern town. The trees, animals, and things around me are not my obstacles, but rather reference points around which I revolve and draw inspiration.
