It was always there. Stories written over the years. Arranging holiday decor just so. The art of putting a salad on a plate. Seeing feng shui in every color in every room. Designing cards, brochures, event materials, even videos while traipsing through the corporate world. The Artist. She was right there trying to insert herself.
A few years ago, two mother daughter activities brought her out. Designing jewelry with Stephanie was a real art endeavor. We spent time together and successfully showed and sold at the Red River Revel two years in a row.
Did I mention designing websites? I’ve done half dozen. A marriage between design and function that brought the artist to the business mindset.
The second mother daughter adventure was Painting with a Twist. Once a month, getting together to drink wine and paint was our togetherness not just as Mom and daughter, but as artists. Stephanie had always painted, but now I was on board with her.
Since, I embarked, wholeheartedly, into acrylic painting. Florals. Landscapes of places we camped or visited. Abstracts. I loved the feel of the paint going on the canvas, even if I tend to over think what, when, where and how it lands. (there’s that type a person)
Acrylic fluid art took the 'over thinking' out in 2017. Okay, it just tamped it down a bit. I love the quirky, unique and mysterious ways that the colors flow and ebb to create. Sometimes I manipulate the paint, mostly it tells me what it’s going to do.
This art form has captured my artistic fancy as I continue to explore, learn and experiment. Hopefully you will see a creation of mine that inspires you as well.
