Art finds me when I am still and don't live on the shimmering surface. I paint, it's a constant desire. My painters eye never closes, my painter's mind never stops painting. I absorb every moment as an artist. I believe that it is impossible to make art that is an accurate account of any one's life. Life as it actually is cannot be told by a single person, one may only tell their story, life as they live it and have seen it.
What lies in the depths of transformation overwhelms me- the truth that life is hard and we still flourish, that other people's pain hurts us all, an that what looks like progress destroys. If I don't paint, I am unbalanced. I often see paintings in my mind, and all around me long before they're ever put onto a canvas. I paint what I feel and go where my paintbrush takes me.
I'm drawn to wildlife and nature. I love to be outside and soak up all of the many colors around us. There is so much in right here in Louisiana for me to paint! I am a native of Shreveport, Louisiana, where I am living and raising my family with my husband of 18 years. I trained under Jim Woodson, a Texan painter at TCU, and graduated in the early 2000's.
