YUINA TODMAN is a multi-disciplinary artist from Okinawa JAPAN.
She studied oil painting, contemporary art, video performance, sculpture, and other fields of expression for four years at Okinawa Prefectural University of Arts. After that, she worked as an Art teacher for four years in order to attend an art university in New York. However, she gave up on going to New York due to the death of a nearby student, as well as various problems with her family and herself. Several years after graduating from university, she moved her base to Louisiana and began her career as an artist.
YUINA's work is inspired by her own daily experiences of constant anxiety and the questions that arise during them, and she expresses the dialogue between the visible and the invisible, the known and the unknown.
She said " My work delves into the unseen, transforming the intangible into a visceral experience that resonates with the complexities of human emotion.Central to my artistic exploration is the medium of sand, which transcends its physicality to become a potent symbol of memory and transformation. Each grain represents a fragment of experience, an echo of the past that shapes our present and influences our future. By embedding sand into my visual and installation art, I seek to capture these ephemeral moments, granting them permanence and form.
Through my practice, I aim to illuminate the silent battles that unfold within each of us, drawing upon my own experiences with constant anxiety. My art becomes a dialogue between the visible and the invisible, the known and the unknown, inviting viewers to confront their personal narratives and uncover the beauty in their imperfections. “
