Diana Aldrete is a bicultural, first-generation Mexican-Salvadoran-American queer artist and scholar. Her abstract visual art has been exhibited in group exhibitions through the Free Center, the New London Pride, and her first solo exhibit, Invisible Suffering, on display at Charter Oak Cultural Center March 11th – April 6, 2022. She has done poetry readings though the Hartford Public Library, and was a cast member of Zulynette’s A Little Bit of Death V in 2020 where she did a musical and poetry performance. She earned her PhD in Hispanic Literatures from the University at Albany, SUNY where she focused on human rights, women rights, and Latin American literatures. She often infuses literary and musical references in her visual art and writing. She has published academically, as well as poetry, and short fiction. She is also an Assistant Professor of Language and Culture Studies and Human Rights at Trinity College.
